This Nick Saban quote came up in a podcast and it stuck with me:

“Don’t win a championship, be a champion.”

While most of us aren’t trying to win a championship, the concept can apply to just about everyone. It’s about focusing on the daily actions that get you to the goal rather than the goal itself.

All we have control over are the actions we take. Most of the time, the outcome is out of our control. I know for me, I need to take a little time to visualize the target, but the rest of my energy goes into the daily work.

If you want to get in shape, be someone who trains and eats like a healthy person. If you want to build a business, be someone who does the work required to build it. If you want to become a better artist, be someone who practices.

You don’t have to wait until you reach the goal to become that person. You can start being that person today.
