I usually schedule Tuesday's messages on Monday. Just now, I realized I forgot to do it yesterday. While it’s not a huge deal to forget, I know it’s a symptom of a larger issue. Lately I’ve found myself slipping in some areas.

I’ve been forgetting to write my Power List tasks in the morning. Then I go through the day chipping away at what I feel like I need to do, with no real structure. When the little things that keep you on track start to slip, it can spread. Tasks that were once automatic start getting missed.

I can’t remember what book it was in, but there was an acronym for WIN: What’s Important Now. For me, it’s the Power List every day. It keeps things moving. If I slack on it, things start to slide.

What keeps you on track?

I try very hard to keep my professional life flowing, and a list helps. I also, before I get out of bed in the morning, settle on the first thing I will tackle. Finishing art on a deadline, revising a manuscript, or marketing stuff for comic cons. I need that first thing clear in my mind to get off on a good start.

I go throught it to man. The book might be “Winning Every Day” by Lou Holtz. One of my favorite books.
