Many years ago, when I was just starting to get into self-improvement, I had this thing I’d do where I would consider my future self when making decisions. I sort of forgot about it until recently. This is great for little things and big things.
Some small things I’ll do at night are filling the water filter so it’s ready when I wake up, cleaning out the French press so I don’t have to in the morning, and getting things ready for my morning workout. This stuff removes friction in the morning.
The small things are cool, but the big ones are more powerful in my opinion. The problem with these is it often takes a long time to see the benefits. Things like eating healthy, working out, and doing the Power List every day take time to take effect.
That said, it’s still a powerful tool to use for those things. Consider your future self when making decisions about what you’re eating, whether or not you exercise, and how you’re working toward your goals.
The thought I keep in mind is, “My future self will be grateful I did this.” Your current self may not see the results, but your future self will.

My ADHD therapist/coach introduced me to future me. I’m worried for him.

I really look forward to reading these! Helped me a bunch as a new artist as well as for self improvement. Thank you!

Wise words. This is something I’ve incorporated into my life in recent years and its been nothing but fruitful. I think it’s an aspect of self-love/appreciation and even helps you notice when you self sabotage out of laziness.
Solid info dude.
