I saw a drone video the other day of two wolves chasing a rabbit.

The camera followed them for a few minutes. Total chaos. Every few seconds it looked like the wolves were going to catch him.

The rabbit never let up. Full speed the whole time. Sharp cutbacks, quick turns, using every bit of speed and agility it had. Eventually the wolves gave up and the rabbit ran off.

It got me thinking.

On the surface, we don’t really live like that. Most of us aren’t out here getting chased for our lives. Because of that, it’s easy to get complacent about our health and fitness.

But just because it doesn’t happen often doesn’t mean it can’t.

Being in shape makes everyday life better: more energy, better mood, less stress. But it can also be the difference when something serious happens. An accident. A fight. A situation where you actually have to move, run, push, or fight harder than you have in years.

That’s not the time to realize you’re not ready.

You don’t have to train like you’re being hunted every day, but it’s worth asking: if life hit you with something heavy tomorrow, would your body be able to back you up?

If the answer’s no, maybe today’s a good day to start changing that.
