I saw a video today that was a great reminder: you’ll never be as capable as you are today. Thirty years from now, you’ll wish you had the energy and health you have right now.

It made me think of a boxing coach I’ve been seeing recently. He’s in his 70s and still going hard on the heavy bag, still jumping rope, still training and teaching. He mentioned that if he’d stopped in his 50s, he would have missed out on 20 years of training.

Even in his 70s, he’s still more capable than he’ll be in his 80s. Being in my 50s, I still feel good—but in 30 years, I know I’ll wish I had the energy I have today.

The point is, whatever age you’re at right now is the most capable version of you that exists so far. Use it. Don’t waste the season you’re in wishing for the past or waiting for some perfect future.

What are you going to do with the energy you have today?

So true. I’m 62 and still hoping to get my golf handicap down as I play with ladies in their 80s that are still going strong. The same with my art and writing. Thanks for the reminder. Love your posts.
