A tactic that I like to use to make better decisions is thinking of my future self. Will my future self—even me tomorrow—be happy with what I did today? It helps keep me out of instant gratification and into delayed gratification mode. Some examples:
My future self will be happy that I got this workout done, that I finished my power list, that I ate healthy today, that I got this nagging task out of the way.
We live in a world that provides a lot of instant gratification. Everything from social media to Amazon Prime to food delivery focuses on getting us what we want as fast as possible, but some things don’t show results quickly.
